How to check if your smartphone is unlocked

Where did you buy your smartphone?

If direct from a manufacturer store (e.g., Apple, Samsung) then it’s likely to be unlocked. If you got it from a retailer or carrier store (e.g., Vodafone, O2) then it’s more likely to be locked to that network, preventing eSIM use from other providers.

Does it work with other SIM cards?

The simplest way is to try a different SIM card. Borrow one from a friend or family member. If you can make calls or send texts with the new SIM, your smartphone is unlocked. If not, it's likely locked to your current carrier and won't work with BetterRoaming eSIMs.

Ask your network.

Your carrier (e.g., Vodafone, O2) can confirm whether your smartphone is unlocked, and likely assist you with the unlocking process if needed.
